Online transactions are now at an all-time high since the lockdown happened in March. This paved the way for businesses to adapt and continue their operations by focusing more of their efforts online.

In order to keep up with the increasing demands for online banking, we are implementing a series of upgrades and enhancements on our digital banking platforms to improve your overall banking experience.

We try our best to make upgrades less conspicuous by running things without our clients really noticing it. However, it’s inevitable to encounter disruptions along the way which can cause key platforms to be temporarily unavailable.

Please bear with us as we continually improve our systems. We are going to notify you ahead of time on our Social Media accounts and website whenever a major activity may temporarily affect access to our platforms.

Debit Switch Upgrade and Green PIN

We’re happy to announce that we’re upgrading our debit card system to deliver a more seamless banking experience. This will provide you with a faster and better debit card transactions. You may encounter changes within your cash withdrawal limit (more on this later—we will send you an email).

The Debit Card system upgrade will begin on October 26 at 8:00 PM until October 27 at 11:00 AM. During this period, the following will be temporarily unavailable:

• Use of Debit Cards and Cash Cards in all ATMs, Online Transactions, and POS
• Security Bank ATMs and CAMs
• Security Bank Online and Mobile App
• Security Bank DigiBanker
• IVRS, Salary Advance, and eGiveCash
• InstaPay and PESONet

Lastly, we’re also launching Green PIN. A Green PIN is a self-generated PIN that you may use to allow access to an ATM/Debit Card when using ATMs or CAMs. For more details about Green PIN and how to generate one, you may click here.

1. Why are we implementing System Updates and Enhancements?We recently recorded a significant increase in online transactions. In our continuous efforts to provide our BetterBanking promise, we have started implementing upgrades and enhancements in our system to ensure the seamless delivery of our banking services. A major activity is our Debit Card Management System upgrade which may affect the availability of certain services.
2. What is Debit Card Management System?Also known as debit switch is the system where various digital payment or banking platforms connect and communicate, in order for you to be able to perform transactions using Debit Card. Systems include: ATMs, CAMs, Online Banking, Cash Management System, and more.
3. When is the Debit Switch upgrade scheduled?A major activity in our series of digital platform enhancements is the Debit Switch upgrade which will happen on October 26 (Monday) at 8:00PM until October 27 (Tuesday) at 11:00AM. During this activity, your debit card, cash card, and all systems that link to the current debit switch will be inaccessible. This means you will not be able to use your debit card or cash card in-store, online, or at any ATMs.  It will also be unable to receive any digital fund transfers (such as InstaPay and PESONet).We encourage you to perform transactions ahead of time to avoid inconvenience during this period.
4. What can I expect during the Debit Switch upgrade?During this period, the following will be temporarily unavailable:
   • Use of Debit Cards and Cash Cards in all ATMs, Online Transactions, and POS

5. Will I still be able to have access to my money?We will be implementing our system activity from October 26, at 8:00PM until October 27, at 11:00AM. During this period, all digital channels will be inaccessible. Incase our implementation extends to regular branch banking hours, you should still be able to make over-the-counter transactions at any of our branches.
