Security Bank employee volunteers together with SBFI Chairman Rafael Simpao, Jr., and SBFI Trustee Melissa Aquino
Rosario, Cavite – Organized by Security Bank Foundation, Inc. (SBFI), 75 Security Bank employees volunteered in the school painting activity at Bagbag National High School last August 17, 2024. As an integral part of the Foundation’s classroom construction program ‘Build a School, Build a Nation’, employee volunteers from Security Bank Head Office, South Luzon Commercial Banking Center, Area 24 Pasay/Cavite Branches and Offices painted the first coat of the 6-classroom, 2-storey school building which will soon be turned over by SBFI to the school.
Volunteering for the first time, Blessy Galang, a Junior Accounting Officer from Security Bank Corporation (SBC) Financial Accounting Department has realized even more the value of her work as a fund processor of SBFI. “This painting activity made me realize that just like each fund we process, every effort counts toward creating a brighter future. It feels rewarding upon seeing how our efforts at work can create a positive impact on the lives of SBFI program beneficiaries. This inspired me to continue doing my job with passion,” shared Galang.
Hannah Anonuevo, Head of SBC Area 24 was beyond grateful to SBFI for the opportunity to help the community where the branches she handles operate. “We truly believe in the spirit of teamwork and collaboration. We are happy and we enjoyed the activity knowing this facility will be used by our future leaders. Thank you to the community, and to SBFI for giving Security Bank employees and agency personnel this opportunity, ” Anonuevo said.
In his message, SBFI Chairman Rafael Simpao, Jr. expressed his admiration to employees who selflessly offered their weekend for the painting activity. “We admire and thank you for waking up early to join this physically tiring but emotionally energizing activity. While this may just be a one-day activity, we want you to remember that you are now part of the legacy we are leaving for the future generations because these classrooms that you will paint today will be used by multiple generations of Filipino students for the next 25 years,” Simpao said.
The activity concluded with the recognition of best painted classrooms and most passionate painters. Employees were also asked to share the value they derived from joining the school painting activity where Rosemarie Dacallos of SBC Dasmarinas-FCIE Branch gave an insight. “We get to use our creative skills in brightening up the classrooms where students are expected to learn and grow. I am excited to see the reactions of students seeing the freshly painted rooms. It is always a nice feeling to give back to the community aiming to make a positive impact,” Dacallos expressed.
To date, SFBI has already engaged 175 Security Bank employees through its school painting activity this year 2024. The Foundation is scheduled to conduct two more school painting events this year in Mabalacat City, Pampanga and Pagadian City, Zamboanga Del Sur.
