Domingo (Security Bank Meycauayan Branch OIC), Michael Brian Carandang (Security Bank Bulacan and Nueva Ecija Area Head), Hon. Linabelle Ruth R. Villarica (Meycauayan City Mayor), Hon. Apolinario S.C. Del Rosario (Chairman of Brgy. Calvario), Dr. Querubin E. Lopez (Chief Education Supervisor and SGOD Head of DepEd Meycauayan), and Mary Jane R. Dasig (Calvario Elementary School Principal).
Despite the ongoing pandemic, Security Bank Corporation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm Security Bank Foundation Inc. (SBFI) completed its classroom construction project in Meycauayan City, Bulacan and turned over a total of ten classrooms to the Calvario Elementary School and Malhacan Integrated School on October 19, 2021.
Department of Education (DepEd) Meycauayan City Division Officer-in-Charge Dr. Carolina S. Violeta thanked the Foundation for the classrooms donated, which will “serve as learning environments where students can access quality education equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to become functionally literate, productive, and responsible citizens of society contributing to nation-building and development.”
The donation consists of two-storey, four-classroom school building in Calvario Elementary School and two-storey, six-classroom school building in Malhacan Integrated School. The completed classrooms will help reduce the classroom to student ratio of the schools to below 1:50.
“This building signifies new hope for the learners, teachers, and administrators. We will use this to teach good values, fill minds, and change lives,” said Malhacan Integrated School Principal Theresa Sevilla.
Security Bank Bulacan and Nueva Ecija Area Head, Michael Brian Carandang, highlighted that “The school buildings donated in Meycauayan show how Security Bank cares for its communities, the same level of care we provide to clients as the Bank delivers the best customer service and products to serve clients’ needs. As the communities and our clients grow, the Bank also grows!”
By the end of 2021, SBFI would have donated 701 classrooms in 123 schools located in 69 cities/municipalities. The Foundation marks this achievement to celebrate Security Bank’s 70th anniversary this year. When face-to-face classes resume, these beneficiary public schools will have enough classrooms to welcome students, most especially if physical distancing will continue to be implemented.
