Students from Zamboanga del Sur National High School perform a folk dance in front of the Security Bank Foundation School Building during the turnover ceremony, welcoming guests with their vibrant performance
Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur – Security Bank Foundation, Inc. (SBFI) marked a significant milestone of reaching 800 classrooms on November 14, 2024 with the turnover of a new 2-storey, 10-classroom building to Zamboanga del Sur National High School (ZDSNHS) in Pagadian City. This initiative of donating school buildings is part of the Foundation’s efforts of addressing classroom shortage and improving quality of education in the country under its “Build a School, Build a Nation” program.
“I believe in the powerful change that we can all bring to our educational system if we all invest in education. Let us therefore remain committed to improving education in our country, even if we have to do it one child at a time,” shared SBFI Chairman Rafael Simpao, Jr.
The newly constructed facility is a vital addition to ZDSNHS, the largest high school in Pagadian City, serving over 5,700 students. “For decades, our students have thrived in our previous old building, but its limitations have become more evident. This new facility will offer a space that fosters learning, exploration, and growth,” shared Dr. Fe Bibanco, ZDSNHS Principal. In a show of appreciation, the students performed a folk dance ensemble that beautifully showcased the vibrant and colorful culture of Zamboanga.
Pagadian City Mayor Hon. Samuel S. Co also attended the turnover ceremony and encouraged students to maximize this donation. “This school building is more than just a physical structure. It is a beacon of hope and opportunity. With this new facility, we are taking a meaningful step toward making the vision of a city where every child has the resources and environment necessary to reach their fullest potential a reality. Education is the cornerstone of progress, and with this new building, we empower our young people to dream bigger, learn better, and aspire higher,” he said.
To date, SBFI has completed and handed over 809 classrooms to 140 schools across 82 cities and municipalities nationwide. Through initiatives like this, the Foundation continues to pave the way for better education and brighter future for Filipino students.
