Security Bank Foundation (SBFI) continued its mission to improve access to quality education in the Philippines by providing the much-needed classrooms to our public schools. Sta. Ines Integrated School (SIIS), the second most populated public integrated school in Mabalacat City, Pampanga, received a two-story, eight-classroom school building from SBFI last November 21, 2024. The new building will help address the school’s classroom shortage, as evidenced by implementation of two class shifts to accommodate all its learners.
“Despite the increasing cost of infrastructure, we continued to donate classrooms because we believe that these are crucial for providing a better learning environment and a better quality of education for the Filipino youth,” said SBFI Chairman Rafael F. Simpao, Jr.
In implementing school building projects, SBFI partners with the local government units and the Department of Education which have counterpart responsibilities in the site preparation, monitoring of the ongoing construction, and even providing the classroom furniture. The barangay council of Sta. Ines also supported the school building project by funding the rerouting of the drainage systems to make way for the new building.
“We are blessed to have such a supportive partner in education. The facilities you have provided will create an enriching environment for our pupils, strengthening their growth and success in the years to come,” said Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo.
The first paint coat of the school building donated to SIIS was actually painted by 90 Security Bank employees from Security Bank Makati Head Office and Clark-Medical City Branch last September 14, 2024 as a sign of their support in the Foundation’s education advocacy and community development.
To date, SBFI has contributed 845 classrooms to 145 schools across 86 cities and municipalities nationwide. In addition to infrastructure support, beneficiary schools will also receive training programs for their teachers and school principals, developed and conducted by Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle Philippines. To further expand the program’s reach, the Foundation is inviting clients and like-minded organizations to partner in building more classrooms and transforming more communities through quality education.
