Security Bank employees from Bacolod and Victorias, Negros Occidental participated in the painting activity of the two-story, six-classroom building being constructed at Victorias National High School through the Security Bank Foundation’s (SBFI) Build a School, Build a Nation program.
The school painting activity on July 23, 2022 engaged over 50 Security Bank employees, and generated over 300 volunteer hours for the group. The six classrooms are among the 94 classrooms being constructed this year and is targeted to be turned over by year end.
“Through this activity, I hope we continue to put life to our tagline ‘You deserve better.’ What we are doing here today is our way of giving back to the communities we serve,” said Milarey Wee, Security Bank Corporation Financial Controller and SBFI Employee Volunteerism Adviser.
SBFI continues to provide corporate social responsibility opportunities for employees to participate in. Aside from the school painting, SBFI also runs fundraising activities for its scholarship program for the Bank’s agency personnel where proceeds help subsidize scholars’ monthly allowance.
“While our work in the Bank focuses on giving the best customer service to our clients, we also find time to serve our communities. Service to humanity is indeed the best work in life,” said Joana Christine Rabulan, Security Bank Branch Banking Group Area Head for Western Visayas.
Launched in 2011, the Build a School, Build a Nation Program is a multi-sectoral and holistic initiative involving the construction of school buildings in areas where Security Bank has branches. Beneficiary schools also receive training programs for their teachers and school principals, as well as other learner support interventions for their students.
“Together we can build a nation by providing our learners a better place for learning. Together we can touch the hearts, teach the minds, and change the lives of our children,” said Joegie Sumugat, Victorias National High School Principal.
Security Bank Foundation also provides opportunities for other companies and organizations to co-sponsor the cost of school buildings for select public schools.
