General Exclusions
The Company will not pay under any section of this policy for loss or liability directly or indirectly arising as a result of:
- Loss of or damage resulting from willful, malicious or unlawful act or negligence of the Insured Person;
- Any act of war, act of a foreign enemy, civil war, invasion, and revolution, insurrection use of military power or usurpation of government or military power. War shall mean war, whether declared or not, any warlike activities including the use of military force by any sovereign nation to achieve economic, geographic, nationalistic, political, racial, religious or other ends;
- Any serious physical injury, Sickness or Disease resulting directly or indirectly from, attributed to, or accelerated by;
- The use, release or escape of nuclear materials that directly or indirectly results in nuclear reaction, or radiation or radioactive contamination; or the dispersal or application of pathogenic or poisonous biological or chemical materials; or
- The release of pathogenic or poisonous biological or chemical materials.
For the purpose of this exclusion, serious physical injury means;
- Physical injury that involves a substantial risk of death; or
- Protracted and obvious physical disfigurement; or
- Protracted loss of or impairment of the function of a bodily member or organ.
- Loss, destruction or damage to any property whatsoever or any loss or expense whatsoever arising there from or any consequential loss directly or indirectly caused or contributed to by or arising from ionizing radiation or contamination by radio-activity from any nuclear fuel or from any nuclear waste from the combustion of nuclear fuel;
- Any illegal or unlawful act by the Insured Person or confiscation, detention, destruction by customs or other authorities;
- Any violation of the Insured Person of any prohibition or regulations by any government;
- Any breach of government regulation or any failure by the Insured Person to take reasonable precautions to avoid a claim under the Policy following the warning of any intended strike, riot or civil commotion through or by general mass media;
- The Insured Person not taking all reasonable efforts to safeguard his/her property or to avoid Injury or minimize any claim under the Policy;
- Hunting, riding or driving in any kind of race, participating in any professional sports or in any sport whereby the Insured Person would or could earn or receive remuneration, donation, sponsorship, award or certificate of any kind and air travel (other than as a fare-paying passenger in any properly licensed private and/or commercial aircraft or other mode of conveyance or transportation);
- Pregnancy or childbirth, and any Injury or Sickness associated with pregnancy, childbirth or venereal disease;
- Suicide or attempted suicide or intentional self-injury by the Insured Person while sane or while insane or provoked assault or intoxication or drugs;
- Mental and nervous disorders, including but not limited to insanity;
- Declared or undeclared war;
- Injury sustained in consequence of riding as a passenger or otherwise in any vehicle or device of aerial navigation, except as provided in ‘Operation of Insurance Coverage’, Section II.
- The Insured Person employed on merchant vessels, engaging in naval, military or air force service or operations or testing of any kind of conveyance or being employed as a manual worker or whilst engaging in offshore activities like diving and oil-rigging or mining or aerial photography or handling of explosives.

What is Security Bank Platinum, World and Corporate Travel Insurance?
It is a FREE travel insurance for qualified cardholders who used any of their qualified Security Bank credit card to fully pay their entire or round-trip transportation expenses such as airline tickets and other means of public transport for a travel abroad. The maximum number of days covered per Trip is 60 days.
Who is qualified for the FREE Travel Insurance?
All active and current Principal and Supplementary Platinum, World and Corporate cardholders with good credit standing.
How can I get a proof of the travel insurance coverage?
A cardholder may request for a Confirmation of Cover (COC) document prior departure which contains the Schedule of Benefits. Cardholder must contact Starr’s Customer Service Team to get a copy of COC. We will require submission of proof of purchase of airline ticket using the card which will be verified by SB and once confirmed, a COC will be issued.

Are there any additional charges on my airfare to avail the Travel Insurance?
No. It is FREE. As long as you used your qualified Security Bank credit card to pay for your airfare.
When does the travel insurance policy start/end?
The coverage for Accidental Death & Disablement starts 4 hours before the scheduled departure time and ends 4 hours after the arrival time in the Philippines. Coverage for all Benefits start upon entry at the Philippine immigration and ends upon arrival.
How do I claim?
Time of Notice of Claim
within 30 days from date of accident, except for Death which should be notified to us immediately or at least within 15 days.
Time for Filing Proof of Loss

What are the needed documents?
Standard Documentary Requirements (All Types of Claims):
1. Copy of Passport showing ID Page and Visa Page (if applicable);
2. e-ticket or Airline Ticket (original flight schedule) and proof of purchase using credit card;
3. Proof of Relationship to Insured (if Insured is a Minor)
In Addition to Standard Documentary Requirements, please provide the following depending on type of claim:
Accidental Death
1. Incident Report;
2. Medical specialist report certifying death &/or Incident Report issued by the competent authorities with findings on the alleged accident;
3. Original or Certified true copy of death certificate;
4. Proof of beneficiary – PSA Certified Birth Certificate/Marriage Certificate/ CENOMAR with two (2) valid IDs of the beneficiary;
5. For minor beneficiary – Copy of grant of guardianship, if applicable.
Disablement due to Accident, Medical Expenses
- Original copy of Medical Certificate;
2. Original copy of all hospital bill, statement of account, invoices and receipts/proof of payments;
3. All hospital & medical records detailing the diagnosis and treatment received;
4. Medical specialist report on sustained permanent disability
5. Incident Report issued by the competent authorities with findings on the alleged accident;
6. Photograph of insured (in amputation/disability cases for benefit computation).
Flight Delay / Travel Reroute
1. Certification from Airline indicating reason of delay/cancellation of flight; must contain flight details and passengers affected;
2. Original Boarding Pass and/or Passport pages with exit & entry dates and/or Airline ticket for actual flight taken;
3. Original copy of Official Receipts for hotel accommodation and meals
4. For Travel Reroute – Original copy of Official Receipts for additional traveling expenses
Baggage Delay
1. Property Irregularity Report or Written Report from the Airline or Common Carrier;
2. IMPORTANT: Delivery Receipt / document showing place, date and time the baggage was received and by whom;
3. Original copy of Receipts for the purchase of essential clothing and toiletries
Loss or Damage to Baggage
- Property Irregularity Report from the Airline or Common Carrier or Police Report with details of the damaged/lost items secured/ obtained within 24 hours from date & time of incident;
2. Certification from Airline or Common Carrier that the Insured has not received any compensation for the damaged items; - Photographs taken of the damaged item(s); showing full picture, brand, damaged parts
- Original copy of Receipts for the repair expenses of damaged luggage
- Original copy of purchase invoice of lost or damaged item(s) – if available
Loss of Travel Documents / Loss of Credit Card
- Police Report indicating the items lost and executed in the area where the lost occurred, it must be lost due to theft, robbery or burglary;
- For Document Loss, Official receipts for replacement of passport and other travel documents, additional travel and accommodation expenses;
- For unauthorized use of credit card after the loss, please submit a certification that the incident was reported to the credit card company and the statement of account showing the unauthorized purchases
Trip Cancellation & Trip Termination
- Original copy of proof of payment and booking confirmation for travel fare, land arrangements and hotel accommodation expenses;
- Certification from airline &/or hotel stating that the ticket / reservation was cancelled/not used and the amount refunded/not refunded/charges incurred by the insured;
- All hospital & medical records detailing the admitting and final diagnosis and treatment received; Medical Certificate (if reason is serious injury or sickness of the Insured or immediate family member, travel companion or copartner)
- Certificate/Proof of Relationship with the person who caused the cancellation/curtailment (immediate family member, travel companion, copartner);
- Airline Ticket for Actual Flight (for Trip Curtailment claim)
- Formal written letter from competent authorities certifying the occurrence of the incident and/or court summons;
Personal Liability
- Police Report executed in the area where the incident happened;
- Proof of identification of third party involved, i.e. copy of passport, driver’s license, etc.;
- Proof of amount of damages incurred or costs of medical expenses incurred by third party, (i.e. repair receipt, medical receipts, etc.);
- Legal document establishing liability against the insured;
- Proof of legal costs incurred.
Rental Vehicle Excess
1. Police Report executed in the area where the incident happened;
2. Rental vehicle agreement;
3. Copy of Driver’s license;
4. Copy of Letter of Authority to Repair with breakdown of charges;
- Proof of payment.
How long is the processing time for insurance claim?
Processing time usually takes up to 15 working days upon submission of all the necessary documents.
Is pre-existing condition part of the Medical Expense Reimbursement Coverage?
No. All pre-existing medical condition are not covered by the coverage.
I already availed of the travel insurance directly with another insurance company. Am I still qualified to the SBC credit card Travel Insurance?
Yes, but please note that in the event that an Insured Person becomes entitled to a refund of all or part of any of the expenses from any other source (e.g. other insurance policies, third parties and the like), Starr will only be liable for the excess of the amount recoverable from such other source.
