Security Bank Foundation, Inc.’s (SBFI) Build a School, Build a Nation program continues to make an impact across various locations, one classroom at a time. In Cavite, SBFI partnered with the Department of Education, the local government, and 100 volunteers from Security Bank to paint a new two-story building with ten classrooms at Carmona Elementary School in Carmona City on August 10, 2024.
In support of the project, the local government waived building permit fees and assisted with demolition and site preparation to ensure electricity and water supply was adequate during construction. They also sponsored the donation of chairs, tables, and whiteboards for all of the SBFI classrooms.
The classrooms will be turned over for use by the fourth quarter of the year.
Meanwhile, in the municipality of Rosario, 75 Security Bank volunteers painted a six-classroom, two-story school building to be turned over by SBFI to the Bagbag National High School. Painting took place on August 17, 2024, and included awards for best paint job and most passionate painters.
“We admire and thank you for waking up early to join this physically tiring but emotionally energizing activity. While this may just be a one-day activity, we want you to remember that you are now part of the legacy we are leaving for the future generations because these classrooms that you will paint today will be used by multiple generations of Filipino students for the next 25 years,” SBFI Chairman Rafael Simpao, Jr. told the volunteers.
In Mindanao, the spirit of volunteerism continued as 55 Security Bank volunteers painted five classrooms in a two-story building on August 31, 2024. This ten-classroom facility will be handed over to Zamboanga Del Sur National High School in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, later this year.
SBFI conducted its final school painting activity for the year at Sta. Ines Integrated School in Mabalacat City, Pampanga, as part of its plan to complete four school painting activities in 2024. The event saw the participation of 90 employee volunteers from the Bank’s Makati Head Office and Clark-Medical City Branch paint the two-story, eight-classroom school building.
“Our continuous conduct of School Painting activities was inspired by various positive feedback that we got from our past Security Bank officers and employee volunteers,” said Simpao, Jr. “Because of your dedication to make Security Bank a profitable organization, Security Bank Foundation is able to fund its programs which then benefit our public schools and their students,” he added.
Through these volunteerism initiatives, Security Bank employees have not only brightened the classrooms of Cavite, Pagadian and Pampanga with fresh paint, but have also demonstrated the Bank’s unwavering commitment to community development and education services.
