Carmona, Cavite – The strong partnership of Security Bank Foundation, Inc. (SBFI), the Department of Education (DepEd) Cavite Province Division, and the Local Government Unit of Carmona, Cavite led to the turnover of a 2-storey, 10-classroom school building in Carmona Elementary School last November 7, 2024.
Under SBFI’s “Build a School, Build a Nation” program, the DepEd and LGU were very involved throughout the process, from beneficiary school selection to construction completion.
Carmona Mayor Dahlia Loyola and Congressman Roy Loyola also believed that quality classrooms would improve education in the city. Hence, they fast-tracked approvals and provided full support for the project through the demolition of old structures, waiving of building permit fees, provision of sufficient electricity and water connection during construction, as well as chairs, tables, and whiteboards for the classrooms.
Security Bank employees from Makati Head Office, South Luzon Banking Center, subsidiary SB Finance, Laguna and Carmona, Cavite branches also contributed to the project by volunteering to paint the first coat of the school building last August 10, 2024.
“I believe in the powerful change that we can all bring to our educational system if we all invest in education. Let us therefore remain committed to improve the education in our country, even if we have to do it one child at a time,” said Rafael F. Simpao, Jr., SBFI Chairman.
Carmona Elementary School will also benefit from the free training programs for school principals, elementary English and elementary Mathematics teachers offered by Ateneo de Manila University as well as from the major repair and maintenance support of SBFI every 5 years. With the turnover of classrooms in Carmona, Cavite, SBFI has already donated 789 classrooms, to 138 schools, located in 80 cities/municipalities across the Philippines.
