Delivery of GI sheets donated by Security Bank Foundation to 30 beneficiary schools in Legazpi City to support post-typhoon rehabilitation

LEGAZPI CITY – Security Bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm Security Bank Foundation Inc. (SBFI) responded to the call of the Department of Education (DepEd) Legazpi City, Albay to rebuild schools devastated by Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses. With peak winds of around 215 kph, many residents had to leave their homes and seek shelter in public school classrooms that were converted into evacuation sites.

The foundation donated 734 galvanized iron (GI) sheets to 30 public schools in the area. The donations were received by the DepEd Division of Legazpi City, represented by its Schools Division Superintendent Crestito Morcilla.

Beneficiary schools include Albay Central School, Arimbay Elementary School, Arimbay High School, Bagacay Elementary School, Bagumbayan Central School, Banquerohan Elementary School, Bigaa Elementary School, Bogna Elementary School, Bogtong Elementary School, Buraguis Elementary School, Buyoan Elementary School, Cabangan High School, Dita Elementary School, EMS Barrio Elementary School, Gogon High School, Imalnod Elementary School, Lamba Elementary School, Mabinit Elementary School, Mariawa Elementary School, Maslog Elementary School, Matanag Elementary School, Pag Asa National High School, Puro Elementary School, Rawis Elementary School, San Francisco Elementary School, San Joaquin Elementary School, San Roque Elementary School, Tamaoyan Elementary School, Taysan Elementary School, and Victory Village Elementary School.

“The Schools Division of Legazpi City expresses its profound gratitude to Security Bank Foundation for generously giving us these GI sheets to rehabilitate classrooms damaged by Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses,” said Morcilla.

Security Bank Legazpi Branch Business Manager Mary Rose Eloisa Llanto, who represented the Bank during the turnover of the donation, thanked SBFI for letting her be an instrument to help her ‘kababayans’ in Legazpi City through the restoration of damaged classrooms.

Schools have always been regarded as second homes for children building their dreams and now shelter for families from calamities. With its integral role in the community, it’s only fitting that the classrooms in these schools are rehabilitated immediately.

As a standard, SBFI evaluates its donated school buildings every five years to assess structural integrity and conduciveness for learning. Those that were heavily damaged by disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons are prioritized for repair to ensure safety of students and avoid class disruption.
