Security Bank Foundation begins 2019 with better classrooms for Panabo City, Davao Del Norte

Security Bank Foundation kicks off 2019 with the fulfilment of its promise of delivering better classrooms for public schools in the Philippines by turning over newly-constructed school buildings in Panabo City, Davao Del Norte last January 30, 2019. A total of twelve classrooms were donated in Panabo City – two-storey, six-classroom school building for Panabo Central Elementary School Special Education (SPED) Center and two-storey, six-classroom school building for Panabo National High School.
Security Bank Foundation’s donation gave light to the future of students who were previously having classes in old, dilapidated, and smaller-sized classrooms in the site of the newly-constructed school buildings. “Dreams do come true that someday, dilapidated classrooms at this site will soon become a high-rise school building. The new building will help solve the oversized class sizes of the school’s Grade 7 students,” said Ms. Memia Infiesto, Principal of Panabo National High School.
Remembering what was the situation back then, Ms. Rosemarie Patriarca, Principal of Panabo Central Elementary School SPED Center recounted that the site of the newly-constructed school building used to be the site of a four classroom old building already declared for demolition. “Even though we lost classrooms during that time, we gained more of what we have lost,” said Ms. Patriarca.
The inauguration was also graced by the local government led by Former Governor Hon. Rodolfo Del Rosario and Vice Mayor Hon. Janrey Gavina who expressed their overwhelming gratitude on behalf of Panabo City and the province of Davao Del Norte. “On behalf of the people and the students here in Panabo, thank you very much for your support, thank you for all your donations… Security Bank is the only bank which has this kind of project,” said by Hon. Gavina.
The Schools Division Superintendent of the Department of Education Division of Panabo City, Dr. Dee Silva also uttered her admiration to Security Bank Foundation’s The Classrooms Project. “Sana hindi magsasawa ang Security Bank Foundation, Inc. sa pagbibigay ng mga classrooms hindi lamang dito sa Panabo, pati na rin sa buong Pilipinas,” said Dr. Silva.
Security Bank Foundation is committed to continue reaching more areas in the Philippines to provide more conducive learning environment for Filipino learners. To date, the Foundation has already turned over 445 classrooms, benefitting 87 public schools in 47 cities and municipalities nationwide. For the rest of 2019, 120 classrooms are targeted to be constructed in various schools in the country bringing the total classrooms donation of Security Bank Foundation to 565 by yearend.
