The Asset, Asia’s leading finance publication based in Hong Kong, recently recognized Security Bank officers as among the country’s best local currency bond individuals in research and sales for 2021.
During the annual Asian Currency Bond Benchmark Review, Security Bank Chief Economist Robert Dan Roces ranked fifth for research. Head of Institutional Desk Angeline Sia-Uy ranked fifth for sales while Head of Treasury Wholesale Carlyn Therese Dulay, was highly commended. Both Dulay and Sia-Uy have consistently gained top rankings in the review for the past thirteen years.
“We are glad to get high rankings in the review as these show that we were able to help our clients navigate this volatile environment,” said Roces. “Our work reaches quality standards because we strive to do our best in providing for our clients’ needs.”
Conducted annually since 2000, the Asian Local Currency Bond Benchmark Review of The Asset provides data on investors’ product needs and the market penetration of banks that are active in local currency bonds. More than 300 fixed-income investors across 11 Asian markets are surveyed yearly, including China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
“Despite the challenging operating environment, Security Bank continues to deliver on the promise of BetterBanking in the new normal,” said Jim Yap, senior vice president and head of Treasury Sales at Security Bank. “We aim to make sure our clients have only the best to rely on for their banking needs and being acknowledged for our efforts is an expression of our clients’ vote of confidence in us.”
The ranking of individuals is determined through investors’ nominations based on functions. Those with the highest weighted score according to job function and the main local currency bond markets covered during the survey period are chosen as the top individuals for the region. In 2021, more than 650 sell-side individuals were nominated and over 200 achieved a rank.
