Security Bank Foundation, Inc. (SBFI) is strengthening its mission to enrich the lives of Filipino students by addressing a critical yet often overlooked learning barrier: impaired vision. Through impactful partnerships with the Rotary Club of San Francisco Del Monte (SFDM), the Rotaract Club of San Francisco Del Monte Malaya Achievers, and Ideal Vision Center, SBFI is helping hundreds of public school students see more clearly—and dream more boldly.
In March, SBFI expanded its vision screening and eyeglasses distribution program to North Luzon, reaching 160 students from Grades 2 to 6 at Calvario Elementary School (CES) in Meycauayan City, Bulacan. The program, made possible through the collaboration with Rotary and Rotaract SFDM QC, provided professional vision screenings, with 157 students to receive prescription eyeglasses before the school year ends.
Rotary and Rotaract supplied the vision screening machines, volunteer optometrists, and support staff, while SBFI funded the production of eyeglasses through its Adopt-a-Pupil for Eyeglasses campaign—a fundraising initiative supported by Security Bank employees.
“We are very much concerned about the present problems of education in our country, including students who cannot learn well due to impaired eyesight,” said SBFI Chairman Rafael F. Simpao, Jr. “Together, let us resolve that, no matter the challenges we face, we shall not waver in our purpose and will be victorious in elevating the learning of our youth.”
The program’s reach extends further south as well. In partnership with Ideal Vision Center, SBFI provided free prescription eyeglasses to 1,012 students from six public schools in Batangas and Laguna earlier this year. After conducting comprehensive vision screenings, Ideal Vision produced and donated eyeglasses that have already begun to transform students’ learning experiences.
Parents, teachers, and principals alike are seeing the tangible impact. “Your kindness and commitment to improving vision have made a profound impact on our students. They now see the world with more joy and their dreams more clearly,” shared Emelda Malolos, Principal of Sto. Tomas North Central School in Batangas.
Through partnerships with leading civic organizations and optical experts, SBFI has already supported the vision needs of over 1,170 students since launching the program in October 2024.
Simpao emphasized the program’s long-term goals, “These eyeglasses will remain instrumental in supporting the education of our students, provided these are consistently worn and taken care of. We urge students, with the assistance of their parents, to always wear and maintain their eyeglasses.”
With continued collaboration and community support, Security Bank Foundation remains steadfast in helping Filipino students achieve clearer sight—and a brighter future.
