Security Bank Capital Investment Corporation, the wholly-owned investment banking arm of Security Bank, was named the Best Investment Bank in the Philippines by Alpha Southeast Asia during the 19th Annual Best Financial Institution (FI) Awards held in Singapore on June 30, 2025. This recognition underscores the firm’s performance across capital markets, project finance, advisory, and digital innovation.
Despite a volatile macroeconomic environment and hybrid work arrangements, Security Bank Capital operated seamlessly and delivered exceptional results. Its deal teams actively coordinated with corporate clients, financial institutions, and the public sector for origination efforts and ensured successful distribution resulting in efficiently executed mandated transactions.
In the debt capital markets, the firm arranged 11 bond issuances amounting to PHP184 billion, including SMC Tollways’ PHP35 billion maiden issuance, the largest corporate bond in 2024. It also participated in the Bureau of the Treasury’s PHP300 billion benchmark maiden FXTN issuance.
In project finance, the firm arranged PHP241.65 billion for renewable energy projects, highlighted by the record-setting PHP150 billion financing for Terra Solar, the largest integrated solar and battery storage project in the world. The firm also led the USD100 million financing for the Malampaya Gas Expansion Project to help ensure domestic energy security.
Security Bank Capital supported inclusive financing by arranging PHP14.6 billion in corporate notes and term loans for MSME-focused financial institutions. In equity capital markets, it raised PHP45.4 billion through IPOs and preferred share offerings for major issuers including Citicore Renewable Energy Corp., Petron Corporation, Vista Land & Landscapes, Inc., and Ayala Corporation.
Security Bank Capital also provided advisory services for acquisitions in the energy and infrastructure sectors, while supporting digital transformation in capital markets through paperless platforms like the e-Securities Issue Portal (e-SIP) and the Philippine Stock Exchange Electronic Allocation System (PSE EASy).
“Being named the Best Investment Bank in the Philippines affirms our commitment to providing innovative, high-impact financial solutions that drive national progress and sustainable development,” said Virgilio Chua, President and CEO of Security Bank Capital. “We would like to thank Alpha Southeast Asia for this recognition—this inspires us to continue serving our clients and contributing to the growth of the Philippine economy.”
Alpha Southeast Asia reviewed over 180 submissions from across the region and awarded on the basis of performance and growth. The awards period covered deal and transaction volumes from May 2024 to April 2025.
