Security Bank and long-time community partner, ArteFino, have again joined forces for the 2022 ArteFino Festival. A key component of the festival is the much-anticipated Makers Lab Upcycling Design Challenge where participants will upcycle old fabrics—and turn “trash” into unique objects with “extraordinary” designs.
Security Bank has been partners with ArteFino since the festival started in 2017. Through the upcycling activity, the Bank and ArteFino support the call for sustainability, as embodied in this year’s theme of Renew, Repurpose, and Regenerate.
“The partnership between ArteFino and Security Bank is very special as it celebrates the best of Filipino culture and craftsmanship. This year’s theme: Renew, Repurpose, and Regenerate further aligns with the Bank’s focus on promoting sustainability, anchored on its mission to enrich lives, empower businesses, and build communities,” says Tanya Deakin, VP and Head of Corporate Communications and Brand at Security Bank.
The ArteFino denim upcycling challenge is an event that showcases Filipinos’ creativity, resourcefulness, and innovation through the upcycling of old and used materials. Entries will use 80% upcycled materials with 60% coming from denim, wood, scrap fabric, plastic, and paper and 20% coming from other materials of choice.
“ArteFino is pleased to have Security Bank as a partner for the ArteFino Makers lab: Totally Upcycled challenge. With Security Bank as a partner of ArteFino since its inception in 2017, we are thankful for their continued support as we recognize the talent of Filipinos when it comes to crafting sustainable pieces that uplift the Filipino spirit,” says Armita Rufino, one of the five founders of ArteFino.
Apart from the upcycling challenge, Security Bank is a staunch supporter of the ArteFino Festival, an artisanal trade fair that is currently being held at the Powerplant Mall in Rockwell Center, Makati City.
This year, the ArteFino Festival is hosting more than 150 brands that will be showcased in a span of five weeks. Each week features a new set of brands across various categories, a special men’s section called Barracks has also been set up for men to lounge, shop, and dine on local artisanal brews.
The ArteFino Festival is located at the ground floor of the Powerplant Mall in Rockwell Center, Makati City and will run until September 28, 2022. Winners of the denim upcycling challenge will have their winning pieces displayed at the festival.
