Security Bank Corporation’s Investment arm, SB Capital Investment Corp. (SB Capital) has been awarded the Innovative Deal of the Year – Philippines by the Asian Banking and Finance (ABF) organization for its participation in the 2021 Ayala Land PHP10billion, 4-year fixed rate bond issuance.
The investment house’s initiative with Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) differs from other issuances and fund-raising activities as it was the first corporate bond offering to pioneer the full utilization of the e-Securities Issue Portal (e-SIP)—a tool that streamlines the digitalization of transactions in the Philippine capital market.
Issuances via e-SIP effectively allows the investment process to remain resilient as it facilitated the continuation of debt capital issuances despite restrictions in movement brought about by the pandemic. As the pilot issuance using e-SIP, the ALI bond offering allowed other issuers to embrace innovation and technological development in capital market offerings.
“We’re pleased to be awarded by Asian Banking & Finance for this recognition which marks the first ever listed debt instrument issued by a company through e-SIP. The award from ABF shows how the finance sector is working to streamline financial transactions and make investing easier for all,” says SB Capital President, Virgilio Chua.
ALI is the leading and most diversified real estate conglomerate in the Philippines with a solid track record of developing and planning large scale, integrated estates with a mix of use of residential lots and buildings, office buildings and commercial and industrial lots, leasing of commercial and office spaces, and the development, operation, and management of hotels and resorts.
Security Bank, through its investment house, SB Capital has demonstrated expertise in both foreign and domestic markets and continues to strongly position itself as a powerhouse through its extensive knowledge, experience, and strategic alliances with companies across different industries.
In 2020, SB Capital was also recognized by ABF, awarding its deal with HC Consumer Finance Philippines, Inc. as the Syndicated Loan of the Year, and its project with PrimeWater Infrastructure Corporation as the Project Infrastructure Finance Deal of the Year.
