In support of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group’s (MUFG) Global Volunteer Month, Security Bank employees joined MUFG Manila branch volunteers in visiting the Tahanan Mapagkalinga ni Madre Rita in Bulacan for a day of formative activities with the orphans.
Volunteers from the strategic partner banks led by MUFG Manila Branch General Manager Tatsuto Ishida conducted a seminar about proper hygiene practices. They also refurbished the playground and cultivated the garden through a facility rehabilitation project, creating a more conducive environment for the children.
Aside from the rehabilitation activities, MUFG employees led a financial literacy camp for the children to learn the importance of smart saving habits that will guide them in securing the future.
Tahanang Mapagkalinga ni Madre Rita is an orphanage that provides shelter to more than 30 children who have been orphaned or abandoned.
“The fact that volunteers selflessly dedicated their time and resources to take care of people who are not directly related to them makes the work they do worth acknowledging. It is a heart-warming experience to witness the children feel the sincere malasakit [compassion] of the MUFG and SBC volunteers. This kind of dedication has a big impact on the kids,” said Sister Elkin Lozada of TMMR.
MUFG and Security Bank continue to organize sustainable outreach programs to empower poverty stricken communities, especially the youth for community development. The strategic partners collaborate in these initiatives to provide a venue for their employees to engage and give back to the community and the less privileged.
“We are here to share our time and connect with the children in the same way that we do with the members of MUFG and SBC. As a family. This has been a wonderful opportunity for us to show our spirit of contribution to society.” said Takahiro Onishi, EVP & Alliance Segment Head of Security Bank.
Prior to this volunteering activity, MUFG and Security Bank together with BOT Lease and Finance Philippines, Inc. held a Color Fest: Run for Charity to provide support for the Tahanan Mapagkalinga ni Madre Rita and its advocacies, still as part of the Global Volunteer Month.
