The Role
As a Trust Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of applicable regulatory requirements governing SBC Trust and Asset Management Group (TAMG) thru the conduct of periodic independent compliance testing, reporting all exceptions noted to the concerned unit and Compliance Office, making recommendations and monitoring implementation of approved corrective actions
How you’ll contribute
- Improve the unit’s overall operations through effective and smarter use of technology and data to perform real-time monitoring and to pre-empt the occurrence of compliance issues.
- Promote effective implementation of a compliance program by addressing breaches that may arise, reporting these breaches including the actions taken to the Corporate Governance Committee and the Board, recommending the imposition of the appropriate disciplinary action on the responsible parties, as well as adopting of adoption of measures for their speedy resolution and prevention of recurrence of the violation, and propose policies that will address findings and identified weaknesses resulting from compliance testing activities.
- Ensuring periodic review of the compliance function to measure its effectiveness and that all cited deficiencies are properly addressed in a timely manner.
- Ensures an open communication process within the Bank and its subsidiaries to educate officers and staff on regulatory requirements, and their potential impact on the institution’s operations and address compliance matters through regular meetings, distribution of manuals, and dissemination of regulatory issuances.
- Prepare, update and revise the Trust Compliance Program, as necessary.
- Assist TAMG in the development of appropriate policies and procedures to implement and align with existing laws and regulations.
- Coordinate with Legal Division, as deemed necessary, for consultation and clarification of complex regulations and thus ensure the propriety of implementation of regulatory rules and issuances.
- Liaise with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas personnel for any compliance-related matters including those pertaining to the examination of the Trust Department and ensure that all replies to the exception reports are coordinated appropriately within the Bank and externally to the regulatory agency concerned.
- Provide updates to all officers and staff of TAMG for any new Circulars, regulations, policies of BSP, or others.
- Serve as point person for regulatory and compliance issues for TAMG and coordinate the same with the concerned divisions/ units, (i.e. Legal, Audit, Compliance, etc.) and handle all reportorial regulatory requirements of the Compliance Department, Audit Department, and/or the Trust Committee.
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, Economics, Legal Management, or any related course
- Have at least 4 years of experience in Compliance, Regulatory Compliance, Audit, Risk Management
- Preferably a Certified AML Specialist/ Certified Sanctions Specialist/ Certified Internal Auditor
- Must have experience in compliance, audit, and risk covering multiple
- Knowledge of key current regulatory change initiatives and impacts on business
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both Compliance and Business
- Ability to support decisions with sound reasoning.
- Ability to clearly articulate business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings.
- Highly motivated self-starter with proven ability to work collaboratively within teams and deliver on time.
