If you are looking to elevate your work wardrobe, rising Filipino designer Xernan Orticio can definitely help. Every season, fashion enthusiasts follow Orticio’s designs on the runways of Philippine Fashion Week. His signature bold, linear patterns have made him a darling of sartorialists across the nation (including blogger/host Kim Jones), and his clothes are consistently featured on prominent fashion and lifestyle glossies as well as worn by starlets like Marian Rivera and Kathryn Bernardo on the red carpet.

Late last year, Orticio teamed up with fashionista-favorite brand Ensembles to design their annual Young Designer Series collaboration. The collection pairs Orticio’s signature engineered minimalism, honed during his studies at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines, with Ensembles’ easy-breezy patterning techniques and silhouettes. Geared towards the working woman, the brand wanted to create outfits that could transition seamlessly from day to night.

Composed of twill, georgette, and poplin fabrics, the universally flattering peplum and tent dresses embellished with Orticio’s structured patterns and pleats are unintimidating to wear – certainly, a can’t-miss for ladies with high-fashion style who aren’t willing to compromise on easy wearability. Our personal favorite piece is the satin twill shift dress (pictured below).

Since its inception in 2009, the Young Designer Series has produced collaborations between Ensembles and numerous up-and-coming designers including Louis Claparols, Choc and Yvette Religioso, Chris Diaz, and Vania Romoff.
