Twenty-four (24) relatives of Security Bank employees and agency personnel in Metro Manila completed the 15-day training on Computer Maintenance and Repair organized by Security Bank Foundation in partnership with KOREA-PHILIPPINES IT Training Center last April 1 to 22, 2013 at the KORPHIL IT Training Center in San Bartolome, Novaliches.
The 15-day program focused on teaching the trainees how to identify and troubleshoot computer hardware and networking problems. The training program is a combination of a classroom lecture and actual demonstration. The Foundation aims to help trainees of the program acquire the necessary skills to enable them to land good-paying jobs locally and abroad, or to put up their own servicing business and earn income.
For trainee Gizelle Valdez, niece of an SBC Employee who owns a computer shop in Quezon City, the formal training in Computer Maintenance and Repair boosted her knowledge not only in repairing computers but as well as in configuring networks.
“I will no longer be reliant on just the internet or other technicians in fixing my computers but I can now depend on my own knowledge gained from the training that will bring me savings. In addition to this, the TESDA certification will give me the opportunity to add another Computer service for my customers. Not only will I be able to provide them with Computer use and internet access but I can now also provide them with Computer Repair and Maintenance services that would also help me earn additional income”, Gizelle adds.
Last May 7, 17 OUT OF 18 passed the TESDA National Certification II Examination at the Asian College for Science and Technology in Cubao. The next batch of Trainees are scheduled to take the exam on May 30. Trainees who passed the TESDA Certification Exam will be referred by the Foundation to the partner industries of KORPHIL IT Training Center for possible employment.
