Terms and conditions
SECURITY BANK CREDIT CARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. THE SECURITY BANK CREDIT CARD (“CARD”)
The Security Bank credit card (“CARD”) is issued to you, the cardholder, by Security Bank Corporation (“we”, “our”, “us”). It is our sole property and is non-transferable. After the approval of your application, you will be required to activate your credit card once delivered. Card activation may be done through recorded line, email instruction, or via 2-Way SMS. You are required to sign the dedicated portion at the back of your CARD upon receipt. Your CARD will only be honored by our affiliated establishments when properly signed and presented by you in good standing, and the required charge slip has been signed by you. It is valid up to the last day of the month indicated on the CARD, unless terminated earlier. After the expiration date, we and our affiliated establishments shall no longer be bound to honor the expired card unless the same has been renewed, subject to our approval.
We may, but do not have the obligation to give you any reason or prior notice:
- Terminate or suspend your CARD privileges at any time and for whatever cause and cancel any Card Transaction and demand immediate repayment of the same, including full payment of Installment Transactions;
- Decline any CARD transaction even if you have enough credit limit to pay for the purchase;
- Increase or decrease your Credit Limit, and/or Cash Advance Limit;
- Refuse to reissue or replace your CARD;
- Amend, add, restrict or cancel your CARD privileges, services and facilities, whether relating a specific CARD or all CARDS tagged under your name;
- Limit Card transactions made in one day, such as, but not limited to, number of purchases, online transactions, Cash Advances, and more; and
- Without waiving any of our rights, approve any Card transaction even if it may cause the balance on your account to exceed your Credit Limit.
You may be required to contact us in case we detect suspicious or unusual activities on your CARD. Until the activity is verified, your CARD may be suspended or cancelled if there is reason to believe that it may be or may have been used fraudulently. If we revoke your right to use your CARD or do not re-issue it for any reason, we may collect all outstanding balances, fees and charges immediately.
You agree to surrender your CARD upon demand to our offices or branches or to our duly authorized representative. You agree to hold us free and harmless from any claim for damages arising from such suspension, cancellation, termination, withdrawal or confiscation or any other loss or damage that you may experience due to any of the actions we take as listed above. Please note that continued use of the CARD in case of closure or cancellation or non-reissuance of the CARD is deemed as fraudulent.
2. YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
You are considered in good credit standing if all accounts for the issuance and/or use of your CARD are current and not overdue, and your privilege to use the CARD is not suspended, cancelled, terminated, withdrawn, confiscated, and unexpired. You are liable for all purchases and cash advances made through the use of your CARD, including all interests, fees and other charges as provided herein, and you hereby agree to accept and pay for such availments without the necessity of proof of a signed charge slip. We shall not be liable to you if for any reason the CARD is not accepted or honored at any Security Bank Mastercard affiliated establishment. You agree to hold us free and harmless from damages arising from the failure of the affiliated establishment to honor the CARD. You shall not hold us liable for any defective product or service purchased using the CARD. Complaints regarding the product or service purchased using the CARD shall be referred to the merchant and shall not affect your obligation to pay outstanding balances with us. Furthermore, you agree to hold us free and harmless from any and all claims for damages as a result of the failure of any accredited merchant or any acquiring bank, or Security Bank Mastercard. Any claim or dispute against an affiliated merchant does not relieve you of your obligation to pay the charges incurred through the use of your CARD. You may report a dispute on unauthorized/fraud transactions within 80 calendar days from the transaction date, through the Security Bank Customer Service Hotline at (632) 8887-9188. Should you request for retrieval of documents relating to CARD disputes, a Four Hundred Pesos (PHP400) retrieval fee per charge invoice shall be charged to you. The retrieval fee is subject to change and shall be waived if dispute is valid.
You also agree to fully comply and abide by the following:
- The terms and conditions governing the use of the CARD
- Laws, statutes and regulations, and BSP Circulars relevant to credit cards and credit accommodations
- The provisions of Republic Act 8484 governing the use of the credit card and other access devices in commercial transactions
You are required to inform us of any changes in your contact details and/or billing address.
3. YOUR SUPPLEMENTARY CARDS
The use of the SUPPLEMENTARY CARDS shall be governed by this Agreement. Any reference to the CARD issued to the Cardholder shall also apply to the SUPPLEMENTARY CARD/S. We can issue up to 5 supplementary cards to you. You and your supplementary/ies and/or surety/ies shall be jointly and severally liable for all purchases and cash advances made, including all interest and charges incurred through the use of the SUPPLEMENTARY CARD/S, as well as for any breach by the SUPPLEMENTARY CARDHOLDER/S of these terms and conditions. Primary and Supplementary CARDHOLDERS share the same credit limit unless otherwise specified. You, your supplementary/ies and or surety/ies further waive any defense of minority or illiteracy on any SUPPLEMENTARY CARD. Such responsibility shall only cease upon your request to terminate the SUPPLEMENTARY CARD privileges. Cancellation can be done by calling the Security Bank Customer Service Hotline at (632) 8887-9188. We will grant the termination, provided all purchases and cash advances made, including all interest and charges incurred through the use of the SUPPLEMENTARY CARD are fully paid and satisfied.
In the event of annulment or separation, legal or de facto, of you and your spouse, you and your supplementary/ies and/or surety/ies shall continue to be responsible for such amounts incurred through the use of the SUPPLEMENTARY CARD/S unless you request in writing that the privileges of such supplementary/ies under this Agreement be terminated, provided all purchases and cash advances made, including all interest and charges incurred are fully paid and satisfied at the time of said request.
4. YOUR CREDIT LIMIT
You will be granted a credit limit in Philippine Pesos which we calculated depending on your personal paying capacity. Your credit limit represents the maximum outstanding balance or purchases that you may be allowed at any given time and will be shared with all of your SUPPLEMENTARY/IES. You are required to assign the credit card limit of your SUPPLEMENTARY/IES. The expiration, suspension, cancellation or termination of the CARD shall terminate the credit extended to you under this Agreement.
Security Bank may increase or reduce your credit limit depending on its assessment, policies, and guidelines. You will be notified of such adjustments, subject to regulations of the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas. You may also apply for a change in credit limit, subject to the approval of Security Bank. Any credit limit increase made by the Bank may be declined by the cardholder.
Your ChargeLight Installment limit forms part of the credit limit extended to you. Such ChargeLight credit limit shall form part of the maximum outstanding balance of the purchases that you may be allowed at any given time if you avail of ChargeLight Installment purchases. The corresponding add-on interest from ChargeLight Installment purchases are part of your ChargeLight Installment limit. Should the outstanding balance exceed the approved credit limit at any given time, we reserve the right to decline any transaction and/or suspend your/SUPPLEMENTARY/IES’ credit card privileges. The said excess amount shall be considered immediately due without the need for further notice or demand. In case you are issued two (2) or more credit cards, you understand and agree to abide by the condition that all of your cards shall have one (1) consolidated or shared credit limit, in Philippine Pesos, unless you are otherwise notified or informed by us that you will be given a separate credit limit for each card, over which we shall have sole discretion. In case of default in payment in one (1) or more cards, we, at our sole discretion, may revoke your right to use all or any of your SB credit cards.
It is the cardholder’s responsibility to monitor his/her total obligations so as not to exceed the approved credit limit at any given time. An overlimit fee amounting to PHP500 shall be charged if your card’s outstanding balance including all transactions whether purchases, refunds, interest, and fees, goes beyond the approved limit.
The overlimit will be charged and added to the Minimum Amount Due when the outstanding balance, including fees and charges, exceeds the prescribed credit limit within the statement period.
5. CASH ADVANCES
Cash Advance is a credit card facility that lets you withdraw money using your card and Cash Advance PIN (CA PIN). You will be assigned a cash advance limit based on your card type. Cash advance is also subject to service fee (see card fees and charges) which will be charged per cash advance transaction. You can request your CA PIN through the Security Bank Customer Service Hotline at (632) 8887-9188. Never disclose or share your CA PIN to anyone. We will never ask you for your PIN. You agree that all cash advances shall be conclusively presumed to have been personally made or authorized by you.
6. REWARDS POINTS
You get to earn Rewards Points on qualified transactions, depending on the CARD type we issued to you. Earning and redeeming of Rewards for the different CARD types are governed by the respective CARD’s terms and conditions. These Rewards may only be earned and redeemed if your CARD is in good credit standing. If your CARD has been cancelled, either by you or by us, any unused Rewards will be immediately forfeited. Likewise, if you avail of debt restructuring or other collection programs, unused Rewards will remain forfeited, despite payment of your CARD accounts. Regularly visit the website to check the items that can be redeemed using your Rewards Points.
7. CHARGELIGHT INSTALLMENT PLAN
You may avail of in-house and store-level Installment Promotions. We, at our sole discretion, shall determine the rates and available monthly terms. Our installment facilities allow you to pay the following, together with the applicable interest and other fees, on installment basis (“Installment Transaction”), for specified monthly payment options of 3, 6, 9, 12, 18 or 24 months:
- Select goods and services purchased from our accredited establishments in the Philippines through ChargeLight and 0% ChargeLight
- Cash converted from your credit limit through SB Ready Cash
- Other, non-SB credit card balances transferred to your CARD through SB Balance Transfer
- Any non-installment or straight amounts from your CARD through Convert-to-ChargeLight.
The principal amount of the transactions covered in (a) through (d) is the Installment Transaction Amount. You should maintain good credit standing to be eligible for any of these Installment Facilities. However, final qualification is still subject to credit evaluation and your credit limit, as applicable. We may require a minimum availment amount for these Installment Transactions.
The monthly Installment due for your Installment Transaction (“Monthly Installment Due”) is included in the Minimum Amount Due on your SOA until the Installment Transaction Amount and the applicable Interest are paid in full.
You may compute the Monthly Installment Due by using the following formula:
Installment Transaction Amount x [1+(Converted Monthly Factor Rate x Term)]
Term
We shall charge you a processing fee of 5% of the unbilled portion of the principal amount in case of pre-termination or cancellation of the approved ChargeLight Transaction before the end of the chosen repayment period. The computation of the Interest and the Principal components of the Monthly Installment Due from ChargeLight Installment transactions shall be on a diminishing balance basis and the Interest and Principal portions of the Monthly Installment Due will not be equal from month to month.
8. STATEMENT OF ACCOUNT
A Statement of Account (SOA) shall be issued to you on a monthly basis, on a specific billing cycle date, reflecting your outstanding balance and the minimum payment due, among others.
You agree to pay all the charges on or before payment due date as stated in your statement of account. You may receive your Statement of Account through courier or email.
You agree to examine the statement of account and report any discrepancy immediately. If no error is reported within 75 calendar days from Statement of Account (SOA) date, transactions reflected in your statement of account will be considered conclusively correct. A statement production fee of Fifty Pesos (PHP50) per page will be charged to you if the requested billing statement is more than three (3) months old. This fee is subject to change. All other terms and conditions stated in the monthly Statement of Account shall form an integral part of this Terms and Conditions. We reserve the right to investigate and confirm within a reasonable time, in accordance with accepted or standard credit card business practices and procedures, any reported error or fraudulent transaction before making any correction in your statement of account.
You must immediately inform us of the non-receipt of the statement of account before your payment due date. Absence of any report of non-receipt shall be deemed as confirmation that you have received your statement of account. Non-receipt of your SOA does not relieve you of your obligation to pay the amounts due on the Card by the Payment Due Date. To avoid incurring Late Charges and further Interest charges and other fees, in case you do not receive your SOA within seven (7) to ten (10) days from the Statement Date, call the Security Bank Customer Service Hotline at (632) 8887-9188 immediately and pay before the Payment Due Date.
9. PAYMENTS
Payments shall be posted to your account within 2-3 banking days. If the Payment Due Date falls on a weekend or regular national holidays, the payment due date shall be automatically moved to the next business day and payment thereon shall not be treated as late payment. Payments due must be received on or before the payment due date reflected on your Statement of Account. Acceptance of payment is considered effected only when checks are cleared. Updating of balance will only take place upon check clearing.
As a general rule, overpayment on your credit card shall not be allowed and will not form part of your credit limit nor cash advance limit. In cases where there’s an excess payment after all billed credit card balances are settled, the overpayment shall not earn interest and will be applied as payment to your succeeding transactions. Refund of credit balance due to overpayment or merchant refund, shall be subject to approval and applicable fees, and after incoming transactions/s are fully deducted.
Payment which exceeds total amount availed and/or credit limit and accounts with credit balances may be subject to monitoring and reporting requirements under the IRR of AMLA, as amended.
Payment through any authorized mode or made to any accredited payment center of the bank, shall be considered as payment to the bank made on the same date. Should you choose to pay an amount less than the total amount due, finance charges may be imposed. We shall compute the interest by adding your daily balances within the billing cycle. The daily balance will take into account the unpaid outstanding balance, and all payments made within the same billing cycle. The sum of the daily balances shall then be divided by the number of days within the billing cycle, resulting to the average daily balance. To arrive at the interest, the average daily balance is multiplied by the applicable interest rate based on your card type.
Interest or finance charge will not be charged on new purchases within the current statement cycle. Payment in excess of the minimum payment amount will be applied to the account in the order of:
- Penalties
- Interest
- Fees and Charges
- Principal Amount
The stipulated interest shall accrue on all charges that remain unpaid after the last day as stated in the monthly statement of account. This will be computed using the average daily balance method.
Failure to pay any two (2) succeeding minimum amount due shall suspend your revolving credit facility. Failure to pay any four (4) succeeding minimum amount due shall constitute default and result in the total unpaid balance to become due and demandable. Provided, that if there are changes in the prevailing market interest rates, we, at our sole discretion, may adjust the applicable interest rates and it shall be the guiding rate of computing the interest due on the outstanding obligation. The interest rate shall be posted on the monthly statement of account (SOA) sent to you. We will post payments within the mentioned posting periods. However, system glitches or breakdowns beyond our control may occur, resulting in a longer period before your payments shall be posted and your account updated.
We shall be charging late payment fees if a Card Member fails to pay at least the Minimum Amount Due on or before the Payment Due Date. You hereby authorize us to charge additional service fees as may be deemed necessary in order to maintain our service to you such as:
- Card Certification Fee for full settlement of account
- Good Credit Standing Certification Fee for the initial and succeeding requests, amount to depend on the card type
- Returned Check Fee depending on the card type
- Payment Transfer Fee
- For Dual Currency Accounts, we reserve, in the absence of any specific instruction, the right to apportion payments from the Peso to the Dollar Account and vice-versa, without need of further instructions from you.
If there are changes in the Fees and Charges originally communicated to you, we shall provide prior notice through our online channels, email, or SMS.
10. AUTOMATIC DEBIT ARRANGEMENT
You have the option to maintain a deposit account with us through which payment of your account may be made. You shall execute and sign a formal authority in favor of the BANK to debit automatically, without notice, your deposit account for such amounts as may be sufficient to cover the payment of your outstanding balance upon presentation of your account to the BANK by Security Bank. Should your outstanding balance exceed the amount deposited with the BANK, such excess shall become immediately due and payable and you shall be considered in default of your obligations to pay the same. In the event that there is no sufficient balance under any or all of your Auto Debit arrangement accounts, your account will be debited for any amount available in your account plus an ADA Fee.
11. FOREIGN CURRENCY TRANSACTIONS
For transactions made in foreign currencies in the Philippines or abroad, the manner of conversion from the transaction currency to the payment currency (Philippine Pesos) would be automatically made by Security Bank at posting date. All foreign currency transactions will be converted using Mastercard’s currency conversion rate at the time of posting, plus an assessment fee, the rate of which may be adjusted from time to time.
In case a foreign currency transaction is voided or cancelled, the transaction amount will be reversed. However, there may be a slight discrepancy between the original transaction amount and the reversal amount since the reversal amount shall be computed based on the prevailing rate at the time when it is reversed.
12. ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE
You agree to pay an Annual Membership Fee for the issuance and use of the Card, as well as fee/s for other facilities and services that you avail of and/or for the maintenance and administration of any balance or transaction on the Card (See Fees and Charges for the prevailing rates. Annual Membership fee is not applicable to Wave and Next Titanium Mastercard.) The said fee/s shall be deducted from the available Account Credit Limit. You agree that we may change or increase the Interest charges, fees, and other charges, and their rates and calculation from time to time. We will notify you of any changes in the manner of computation of the outstanding balance and the amount of fees to be imposed on you as the Cardholder.
13. DELINQUENCY
You will be considered in default or delinquent if your card or any other credit facility/ies with Security Bank Corporation has/have non-payment or payment of an amount less than the Minimum Amount Due (MAD) by the payment due date. You hereby agree that your card privileges shall be either suspended or cancelled even without prior notice. In case of card suspension, it may be lifted if the other debt obligation/s has/have been either updated or fully settled. We will report and/or include your name as well as your SUPPLEMENTARY/IES in negative listings of any credit bureau, institution or other organization. Should we opt to refer the account to a collection agency for collection purposes, we shall inform you in writing of the intended endorsement to a collection agency, or the endorsement of the account from one collection agency to another, at least seven (7) days prior to the actual endorsement. Said notification shall include the full name of the collection agency and its contact details.
14. LATE PAYMENT FEE

In addition, you shall pay a late payment fee. If collection of the account is endorsed to a collection agency and/or enforced through court action, you agree to pay the costs of collection and/or attorney's fees equivalent to 25% of the unpaid balance (including interest and service charges), as well as the expenses of litigation and judicial costs. The exclusive venue of all suits to enforce this Agreement shall be in the proper courts of Makati City and any request to hold in other venues will be disregarded.
In the event of any controversy or action arising from this Agreement or any incident thereto which you may file against us, our liability shall be limited to the amount of the relevant transaction, or the actual damage caused to you, whichever is lesser. We shall not be liable to you for any indirect, special or consequential loss or damages arising in any way from the use of the CARD.
17. ASSIGNMENT
You and your SUPPLEMENTARY/IES agree to assign to Security Bank, effective upon failure to pay on the Payment Due Date, any or all monies, securities, bonds, and things of value which are now or may hereafter be in the hands of Security Bank, and any member of the Security Bank Corporation Group of Companies on deposit or otherwise to the credit of, or belonging to you or your SUPPLEMENTARY/IES. 19. CARD REPLACEMENT
We may change your credit card number and/or expiry date when issuing your renewal or replacement card.
