Security Bank Foundation formally turned over eight (8) new classrooms to Binan Elementary School in a simple ceremony last July 13, 2016 in Binan City, Laguna.
Security Bank Foundation Chairman Rafael F. Simpao, Jr., De La Salle Philippines representative Br. Raffy Reyes, the Hon. Mayor Walfredo Dimaguila, Jr., and DepEd Division Superintendent Dr. Hereberto Jose Miranda led the formal turnover of a 2-storey, 8-classroom school building donation to Binan Elementary School.
In attendance during the formal turnover of the school building donation were Security Bank Region Head and SVP Ronald Austria, Laguna Area Head Eric Buensuceso, San Pedro Branch Manager Jonathan Manabat, Sta. Rosa Branch manager Karyl Rose Almazora and sales associates of the Binan branch.
Representatives from the different offices of the local government unit of Binan City, as well as the DepEd Division Office of Binan City together with the teachers, parents, and students of the public school beneficiary were also present to witness the turnover activities.
The donation of eight (8) classrooms Binan Elementary School is part of the Foundation’s “Build a School, Build a Nation: The Classrooms Project”.
The “Build a School, Build a Nation: The Classrooms Project” is a partnership for the construction of Public School Classrooms of Security Bank Foundation together with De La Salle Philippines. For this collaboration, Security Bank Foundation would provide financing for the construction of the classrooms, while De La Salle Philippines and its La Salle Schools will design programs that will help improve the academic performance of students in public schools. Other major partners include the Department of Education responsible for providing the classroom furniture and the respective Local Government Units, whose responsibility will be the provision for the land where the classrooms will be constructed, the facilitation of construction permits and monitoring of the construction projects.
Since the inception of the Foundation’s Classrooms Project in 2011, the Foundation has funded the construction of 377 classrooms for 78 public schools in 47 cities and municipalities nationwide, benefitting over 37,000 students. Out of the 377 classrooms funded by the Foundation, 261 classrooms for 58 public schools in 32 cities and municipalities were already formally turned over while the remaining 120 classrooms are still in progress and ready for turnover to 19 public school beneficiaries in 2016.
