Security Bank Foundation formally turned over sixteen (16) classrooms to two (2) public schools in Dagupan City, Pangasinan and in Balanga City, Bataan last March 16, 2016.
Eight (8) classrooms for Dagupan City National High School in Dagupan City, Pangasinan were inaugurated and formally turned over in the morning of March 16, 2016. SBFI Chairman Rafael F. Simpao, Jr. together with the DepEd Division of Dagupan City Superintendent Froserfina Bravo, and representatives from the City Government of Dagupan and De La Salle Philippines led ceremonial ribbon cutting of the classrooms donation.
Another eight (8) classrooms for Bataan National High School in Balanga City, Bataan, on the other hand, were inaugurated in the afternoon of the same day. The ribbon cutting ceremony was also led by SBFI Chairman Rafael F. Simpao, Jr., the Hon. Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III, Deped Division of Balanga City Superintendent Mr. Rolando Pozon, and representatives from De La Salle Philippines.
Also present to witness the inaugurations were Security Bank Foundation Program Manager Mel Cordova, Area Head of Security Bank North Luzon Ferdie Uy, Area Head of Security Bank Central Luzon Kim Lim, Dagupan Branch Manager Cherry Heath, Urdaneta Branch Manager Maidy Soriano, Balanga Branch Manager Rhoda Fabian and valued clients of both Security Bank Dagupan and Balanga branches.
Representatives from the City Governments and DepEd Division Offices of Dagupan City and Balanga City also graced the events together with the teachers, parents and students of the two (2) public school beneficiaries.
The donation of sixteen (16) classrooms to the two (2) public school beneficiaries in Dagupan City and Balanga City is part of the Foundation’s “Build a School, Build a Nation: The Classrooms Project”.
The “Build a School, Build a Nation: The Classrooms Project” is a partnership for the construction of Public School Classrooms of Security Bank Foundation in partnership Ateneo de Manila University. For this collaboration, Security Bank Foundation would provide financing for the construction of the classrooms, while De La Salle Philippines, through its La Salle Schools, will design programs that will help improve the academic performance of students in public schools. The other major partners include the Department of Education, who is responsible for providing the classroom furniture and the respective Local Government Units, whose responsibility will be the provision for the land where the classrooms will be constructed, the facilitation of construction permits and monitoring of the construction projects.
Since the inception of the Foundation’s Classrooms Project in 2011, the Foundation has funded the construction of 377 classrooms for 78 public schools in 47 cities and municipalities nationwide, and benefitting over 37,000 students. Out of these 377 classrooms funded by the Foundation, 241 classrooms for 55 public schools in 32 cities and municipalities were already formally turned over while the remaining 136 classrooms are set for turnover to public school beneficiaries in 2016.
